Glacier Hike & Kayak Combo Tour- Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier Hike & Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Kayaking
Tour Description
Experience two of Iceland's most iconic adventures in one unforgettable day. This exciting combo tour combines a 1.5-hour guided kayak tour on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon with a guided glacier hike on Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet glacier of Europe's largest ice cap, Vatnajökull glacier and National Park.
Choose whether to begin your adventure by kayaking among the floating icebergs of the world-famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon or by exploring the breathtaking ice formations of Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier. Your schedule will depend on the day's operations and availability.
During the kayak tour, you'll paddle through the crystal-clear waters of the glacier lagoon in a stable tandem kayak, weaving between magnificent icebergs while enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding glaciers and wildlife. Your certified guide will share fascinating insights into the lagoon's formation, the drifting icebergs, and the rapidly changing glacial landscape.
Between activities, you'll have a short break and free time to spend at the Glacier Lagoon at your choice, before boarding a specially equipped 4x4 vehicle that transports you close to the glacier's edge. After a brief walk, you'll step onto the ancient ice of Breiðamerkurjökull, where your certified glacier guide will lead you across a constantly changing world of deep crevasses, moulins, ice ridges, and striking blue ice formations. Along the way, you'll learn about glacier formation, climate change, and the remarkable forces that continue to shape Iceland's landscape.
As an added bonus, if conditions allow, you may even catch a glimpse of one of the glacier's beautiful natural blue ice caves from the outside, depending on seasonal conditions.
This adventure is the perfect choice for travelers looking to experience Iceland's glaciers from both the water and the ice in a single day. No previous kayaking or glacier hiking experience is required, and all necessary safety equipment is provided by our professional guides.
