This tour is ideal for those looking for a longer and more immersive hike on Falljökull, known as “The Falling Glacier.” Unlike shorter tours, this route takes you higher up the glacier, offering access to areas that are rarely seen by other visitors.

As you hike deeper into the icefall, you’ll encounter dramatic formations such as towering ice ridges, deep crevasses, and complex moulins, features that are only visible further up the glacier. The higher elevation also offers sweeping views of the surrounding landscape, making this tour a great choice for adventurous hikers looking to go beyond the usual glacier walk.

The tour begins at Hof, where you'll meet your glacier guide 20 minutes before departure. After a safety briefing, you'll be equipped with all necessary gear. Helmet, harness, crampons, and ice axe, before heading out toward the glacier.

A short drive on the Tröll Bus brings you closer to Falljökull. From there, it’s about a 20-minute walk to the glacier's edge. Along the way, your guide will point out signs of the glacier’s retreat, including exposed bedrock, a moss line marking its former height, and a meltwater lagoon.

On the ice, you’ll learn how to walk safely with crampons before starting your hike. This tour goes farther and higher than most, taking you deep into the glacier and up toward the dramatic icefall. As you gain elevation, you’ll be rewarded with striking views and landscapes featured in major films like Interstellar, Batman Begins, and Game of Thrones.
